Raised on a ranch in Central Montana - Carol "Caye" Helvey-Woolsey is considered one of the west's preeminent metal smiths. Today she leverages her heritage and legacy to create fine jewelry and metalworks inspired by the wild west.

Information From Seller:
The artist silversmith - Carol Woolsey is now in her seventies. She was raised on a cattle ranch in center of Big Sky Countr Montana. A member of a family with a heritage back to the founders of the state. Surrounded by a collection of whizzened cowboy ruffians who all carried a boot flask filled with “fortitude”. As a little girl - her favorite spot was the big barn. Wherein she would spend her time pounding on metal. Often to the chagrin of her rancher parents.

This led to her discovery of the art of silversmithing. For the balance of her life she has pushed the limits of this craft to award winning heights.

To this day Carol Woolsey continues to produce new work. Including many custom flasks commissioned for avid western collectors. She and her work have been featured in national magazines including Cowboys and Indians, Western Art and Architecture, Cigar Aficionado, and Teton Living. Plus a variety of newspapers and on-line publications.

The Flask: Created in the early 2000’s, this solid sterling silver work was inspired by Carol’s cowboy cohorts and the lives that they led. Buffalo skulls were common sights across the rugged prairie where her family raised cattle. The gold used to create the horns is inspired by the natural patina that only results from years of exposure to the elements. The turquoise stone features rare copper veining. It was a gift to the artist from a local cowboy who picked it up from a copper mine in Jerome Arizona.

The beaded rim of the flask top is inspired by saddle buttons. The body of the flask itself is entirely crafted from a solid sheet of silver by the artist herself.

Please be sure to take a look at the other flasks by Carol Woolsey currently available on Chairish. They are just a few of the many designs she has created. And examples of the range of works she can easily create for a new customer based on their wants/needs/dreams.
